有研究表明，高知家庭和低收入家庭孩子之间，在词汇积累和学习上，有3200万的数额差。当然这些数据指的是“总数”，也就是包含所有重复数据，重复的话语。
当孩子三岁的时候，高知家庭的孩子已经掌握了1000余个单词，而贫困家庭，即便和孩子交流少，孩子也掌握了500多个单词了。在一个小时内，高知家庭的孩子平均听到的单词数量是2000个，普通贫困家庭的孩子也有600个，这些都是国外的数据统计。
